| Obituary:
Stefania “Estelle” Oleschuk Micceri passed away May 7th from a long term illness. She was born June 16, 1918 in Portland, Maine to Josef and Tekla Oleschuk. She graduated from St. Joseph’s Nursing School in 1940 and was a registered nurse. She worked in prestigious hospitals and as a private nurse. She married Joseph J. Micceri in 1945 and was married to him for 63 years. Estelle received her Bachelor of Science degree from Pace University, College of White Plains and taught as a substitute teacher in Mt. Vernon School System until 1988. As a teacher she was highly respected by the faculty and loved by her students. She was very active in the PTA, spent many years as a district leader for the Mt. Vernon Republican Party and in her younger years was very active with Mt. Carmel Church’s Little Flower Altar Society and Ladies of Catholic Charity organization. Estelle was very gifted and expressed her talents through her many drawings and oil paintings. Estelle is predeceased by her beloved husband Joseph J. Micceri and her two sisters Frances Karasinski and Mary Dahm. She is survived by her two children Dr. Madeline Mignone (Dr. Nino Mignone) and John Joseph Micceri (Denise Citron). She is also survived by her seven grandchildren: Roberto, Joseph, Francesco, Stefania, Kimberly, Ashley and Brittany and three great grandchildren: Antonio, Vincent and Dominick. |
