John “Scotty” Greenan

Obituary: John “Scotty” Greenan, a longtime resident of Fleetwood, passed away March 18, 2010 at the age of 85. Born on February 17, 1925 in Kilbirnie, Ayrshire, Scotland to Rose Ann and John Greenan, John migrated to the U.S. in 1929 and settled in Irvington, New York. He attended Irvington High School and Pace Institute. John served in the U.S. Navy as a radio operator during World War II in Europe and the Pacific Theater of war. In 1952, he married Rita Quinn and had two children – Scot, of Ridgefield, Conn. and Dr. Timothy of Washington, D.C. Rita passed away in 1976. John remarried on June 19, 1993 to Mary Boylan. He worked in the publishing field as a V.P. of human resources. John  is survived by wife Mary Boylan Greenan; Scot and Timothy Greenan; stepchildren Mary Cento of Florida, Kenneth, Christopher and  Richard Boylan, all from Mt. Vernon; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. John was predeceased by his mother and father, brother James Greenan and stepson Thomas D. Boylan. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul Church at 10am on Saturday.
