Geraldine Gnerre of Mt. Vernon passed away peacefully March 5, 2010. After a recent celebration surrounded by her family and friends Gerry celebrated her 90th birthday. Born on February 23, 1920 in Mt. Vernon to Francesco and Josephine (Addonizio) DiMarzo. Gerry married John Gnerre on November 19, 1950. She and her husband John were very active in civic affairs. Gerry was past president of American Legion Fava Post Ladies Auxiliary, ICA Women’s Auxiliary, Emblem Club, PTA and active in many school board campaigns. Her greatest joy was the love of her family and friends. She is survived by her son John Gnerre, daughter Carolyn Chieco (Alfred), sister Gloria DiMarzo, sister in-law Dolores DiMarzo, brother in-law Peter Gregory and four generations of loving nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband John, sisters Jennie, Lena, Vera, Alphonsina, Antoinette, Olga and brothers Fiore and Frank. Family will receive friends at the Yannantuono Funeral Home on Sunday and Monday from 4 to 8pm. Mass of Christian burial Tuesday St. Peter & Paul Church at 11am. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery
