| Obituary: Lillian Cerchiara of Mt. Vernon passed away on February 28, 2010. She was born in the Bronx on February 12, 1918 to Nicola and Concetta Tagarelli. Lillian married Anthony Cerchiara on July 4, 1957. She was a secretary to Paul A. Fino, retired Supreme Court Judge; she also worked at the Mt. Vernon Board of Education – Division B, the Mt. Vernon Fire Headquarters on Lincoln Ave. retiring in 1984. Lillian was very artistic and active with helping the students put on plays in the schools. She was an officer for the Sons of Italy, Mt. Vernon Republican Party and for the Hobe Sound, Florida and the AARP. Lillian was a communicant at Sts. Peter & Paul Church, Mt. Vernon and St. Christopher’s Church in Florida. She is survived by her husband, the Former Mt. Vernon City Judge and Supreme & County Court Mediation Judge in Florida, Anthony Cerchiara; a son Anthony Cerchiara, Jr.; sisters Yolanda Guarino and Dorothy Bauman. |

Dear Anthony,
You are in our thoughts and prayers. I t was a pleasure to know Lillian and have her as a neighbor. It was sad to see her become so fraile. I hope she is enjoying the peace of body and mind. We will keep her in our prayers and you as you and your family deal with your loss.
