| Obituary: George A. Bochow, Jr., born September 25, 1946, died suddenly on January 8, 2010. He was an NYU grad and played baseball there. He went on to play pro-baseball for the SF Giants farm team and later worked for NY Hospital and Manufacturer’s Hanover. In addition to being an outstanding athlete, he also had a passion for gardening, cooking and the ocean. The only thing that reached further than his legendary mammoth home runs was the generosity of his heart and caring nature. He was pre-deceased by his father Dr. George A. Bochow. He leaves to cherish his memory his mother Mary Bochow; siblings Beryl (Norman) Hay, Alyson (Gary) Cohen, Brian (Donna Gooch) Bochow, Michel (Peter Francese) Bochow, Gregory Bochow; and many loving nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to: Jon Breen Fund memo to George Bochow, 100 California Rd Mount Vernon, NY 10550 c/o Vera Glazewski - for the George Bochow Baseball Award, a scholarship for a senior player that exhibits high standards of character and achievement. |

My sincere sympathy to all of George's family. I was a classmate of his at Nichols and Davis/Mt. Vernon...and had the privaledge of watching him as athlete and young man. I also met Dr. Bochow through contacts our family had as long time Mt. Vernon residents. I know George and all of you have contributed a lot to the town. I am pleased George will be memorialized at the high school.

I was shocked and saddened to hear about George. He was so kind and
such a truly nice person. I always wished I had a big brother like him when I
was growing up. I was lucky to know him. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
I hope you all can find comfort in the love you all share.
