| Obituary:
Tranquillo (Ted) Iaropoli of Mt. Vernon passed away on Dec. 11, 2009 at home with his family by his side. Ted was born on August 29, 1925 in Citta Nova, Calabria, Italy. He came to the United States in 1936 with his family. Ted proudly served his country in the Army during World War II. He married Matilda Dobratz on February 8, 1958. Ted drove trolleys and buses for Manhattan and Bronx Surface Transit Operating Authority later becoming the MTA. He retired in 1990. Ted also taught bus drivers. He was a member of the Masons and Elks in Mt. Vernon. He was an active little league manager and a scout master for Troop 22 for many years. Ted is survived by his wife, Matilda; his children Christina Alexis, Robert Iaropoli, Debra Simons, Paul Iaropoli and Dina Daum; his grandchildren Robert, Lisa, Kurt, Rachel, John Paul and James; his sister Tina Sperazza and brothers Samuel, Joseph, Steven, Salvatore and Michael. He was predeceased by a brother Vincent Iaropoli, Salvatore Iaropoli and a sister Ruth Furci.
