| Obituary:
Joseph John Micceri passed away on May 14, 2009. Born August 8, 1917 in NYC, to the late Giovanni and Rosalia Micceri. He attended Mt Vernon schools, graduated valedictorian from Bordentown Military Academy in 1936 and was awarded a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from Manhattan College in 1940. At the age of 27, he was one of the youngest engineers awarded the Professional Engineer license.
During WW II Joseph designed fighter planes at Ranger Aircraft and in 1956 he founded, and was president, of Carstel Construction, Inc. He was a distinguished and highly respected member of the engineering field. His work included the construction of the Hutchinson River Parkway, AINS Plastic and many industrial buildings in the tri-state area. Joseph was also an accomplished violinist and an avid gardener. He was awarded a life membership to the NYS Professional Engineering Society.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Estelle Micceri, two children; Dr. Madeline Micceri Mignone (Dr. Nino A. Mignone) and John Joseph Micceri (Denise M. ), seven grandchildren and two great grandsons. Also surviving is a sister Angela Torrisi.
