| Obituary:
Mary Ruggiero Jordano, of Mt Vernon, passed away on March 24, 2009. Born in Mt Vernon on November 19, 1920 to Carmine & Angelina Ruggiero. She was 88. Mary was educated in the Mt Vernon schools and then graduated the St Mary's Hospital School of Nursing in Hoboken, NJ. On July 18, 1948 she married Carmine Jordano. She worked for over 45 years as an OB/GYN Nursing Supervisor in Mt Vernon Hospital. After her retirement from the hospital, Mary worked at the Columbus Elementary School as a nurse.
Besides her husband Carmine, Mary is survived by 4 children; Joseph (Elaine) Jordano, Peggy Jordano Smith, Frances (Bill) Furst & John (Carol) Jordano. Also surviving 10 grandchildren; Jennifer (Jeffrey) Welch, Joseph Jordano, AnnMarie (Russell) Winslow, Stephen Furst, Christine Smith, Cynthia Jordano, James Smith, Catherine Furst, Melissa Jordano & Suzanne Furst and 3 great grandchildren; Anna, Anthony & Vincent Welch. Mary is also survived by sisters Rose Ruggiero & Nancy Henlotter and predeceased by a sister Julia Rezza & a brother Anthony Ruggiero. Also Survived by many nieces and nephews.
