Interment, Beechwoods Cemetery.. Obituary: Assunta "Sue" Smith, a lifelong Mt. Vernon resident, passed away suddenly on February 13, 2008. She was born January 15, 1923 to Carmela (Nofrogate) and Gabriele Giordano. She was 85. Sue worked for Reliable Automated Sprinklers in Mt. Vernon until her retirement. She was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, knitting, crossword puzzles, walking and cooking, especially with her grandchildren. Sue was predeceased by her husband "Red" in 1976. She is survived by her devoted daughter Susan (John) Riehm and son William (Christine) Smith. Four cherished grandchildren; Gregory, Lauren, Alexandra and John Eric, many nieces and nephews, a sister Laura DaVanzo and a brother Vincent Giordano.
