Vernon passed away peacefully with her family by her side on November 16, 2008. Mary was born in Mt. Vernon to Michael and Angela Castiglia. She married Kenneth Mathieu on February 13, 1949. Mary worked as a bookkeeper for United Iron Inc. until her retirement in 1999. Mary was active in the Mt. Vernon Little League, Elks Club; St. Ursula's Rosary Alter Society and volunteered at the Pennington School teaching crocheting. She is survived by her son Steven and his wife Susan.
