Obituary: William “Billy” Mosca of Pelham passed away on August 1, 2008.  He was born in Mt. Vernon on July 20, 1933 to Santo and Josephine Mosca. Beloved husband of Joan; loving father of William Jr. and Lynn Ann Mosca; cherished grandfather to Alexis Lynn and Samantha Emily Mosca; dear brother of Robert Mosca. Also survived by his dearest niece Rae Szymanski and many loving nieces and nephews. Billy served in the 11th Airborne division from 1953 – 1955. He graduated from Edison High School in 1952, was president of the Edison High School Alumni Association from 1978-1979. Billy was one of the founders of the Association of Edison Graduates and served as its second president.  He was a member of the Westchester Master Plumbers Association, the Executive committee of the Italian Civic Association and was a prolific fund raiser for the club. Billy was President of B&L Plumbing & Heating Co.  Billy’s favorite place to be on earth was on his boat, The Interlude.  His humor and his generosity will be remembered as his trademarks.  He had no letters after his name but he was a wise counselor. Family and friends sought his advice and treasured their relationship with him. A great man who will be missed by all who knew him.

Dear Cousin Joanie; I will truly miss Billy, and all the love he offered to anyone who he felt needed it. He was a gifted communicator and always had time for you if you needed his help. One memory of Billy for me was when I was about 17 and was skindiving in long island sound he was on his boat (as usual) and saw me diving well off shore. He pulled along side of me and said come on aboard my boat and have a drink with me. I said sure...and with that he reached over the side of the boat grabbed my arm with one hand and with one quick motion lifted me out of the water onto his boat, scuba tank and all. I said to myself my god is he so powerfully strong. Billy never boasted about what attributes he had he just used them as they were needed. The great friends that he and my father were was a treasure. I never saw my father simile and laugh so much as when he and Billy were together. He was my cousin, my friend, and truly one of the best of Gods children...God Bless Billy Mosca! Willie Spada
Joan, There will never be another Billy. Memories of him will last with us forever -- he was a mentor and a good friend, and my boys will miss Uncle Billy. I learned a lot from him, and will always be grateful for his loyalty and friendship. Our prayers are with you, Billy and Lynn. David Scanlon
